🏰 【From the legendary Georges Roumier, this 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière is a triumph, showcasing exceptional quality from a challenging vintage where it notably "revelled in being unaffected by the frost."】 This Premier Cru Burgundy Pinot Noir is a pure red, tightly-wound yet delineated, offering a concentrated bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, black currant, violet, and hints of singed leather and spice. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, chalky tannins, vibrant acidity, and impressive focus, promising excellent aging potential through 2037.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with roasted duck or goose, game birds, or delicate white meats like veal. For a sophisticated Asian pairing, consider a Cantonese roast pigeon or a refined Japanese wagyu beef. It also complements charcuterie and soft, earthy cheeses.
🥂 An exquisite choice for a celebratory dinner, a serious Burgundy tasting, or as a prized addition to any discerning collector's cellar.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Roumier is a wine producer based in the Côte de Nuits village of Chambolle-Musigny that produces some of the most expensive, best-rated and most popular wines in Burgundy. The winery did not purchase the land directly, but used the French sharecropper/lease system, in which individuals farmed the land for the owner in exchange for a certain percentage of agricultural products. Now, Christophe has taken over the work of the winery and has become the owner of the winery. The current winemaker of the village. He pays close attention to terroir, so little new oak is used, and fermentation temperatures are kept low to allow the wine’s delicious flavors and aromas to shine through.
