🏰Domaine Fourrier's Vougeot Les Petits Vougeot 1er Cru consistently receives high critic scores, and the 2021 vintage offers a perfumed bouquet of red and black cherry, raspberry, and rose petal, complemented by violet florals and wet-stone minerality. The 2021 growing season in Burgundy saw a later harvest, with winemakers employing techniques like hedging to manage the vines. This medium-bodied Pinot Noir boasts lively acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a saline, persistent finish.
🍴 This versatile Burgundy pairs beautifully with both Western and Asian cuisines. For Western dishes, consider roast lamb, duck a l'orange, beef bourguignon, or mushroom risotto. Asian pairings include Peking duck, miso-glazed salmon, char siu, Korean BBQ, or shiitake & soy stir-fry.
🥂 An excellent choice for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion, or simply to elevate a fine meal. Its elegance and complexity make it a delightful wine to savor and discuss.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Fourrier is a well-regarded wine producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy's northern Côte de Nuits subregion, France. Its wines mostly made from Pinot Noir. Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family estate in 1994, aged just 23. He worked with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée in the late 1980s. The latter's influence is reflected in the domaine's fastidious approach in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery.
