🏰 The 2021 Domaine du Clos de Tart La Forge de Tart is a 【"Grand Cru in all but name," offering exceptional Pinot Noir quality from young vines within the legendary Clos de Tart vineyard】. This vibrant ruby-hued wine presents an aromatic bouquet of 【sweet red berries, plums, spices, and peonies, with notes of wild red cherry, cranberry, and fresh raspberry underscored by delicate rose petal and damp earth】. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a seamless, enveloping texture, showcasing 【lively red currant, pomegranate, and subtle clove flavors, framed by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity】. It's approachable in its youth but possesses the structure to age gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto. It's also an excellent match for game birds, pork tenderloin, or aged cheeses like Comté and Epoisses.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or as a contemplative sipper. While approachable now, it will develop additional complexity with age. Decanting for 30 minutes to an hour is recommended to allow the wine to open up. Serve at 14-16°C (57-61°F).
BACKGROUND
Clos de Tart is a winery located on a Grand Cru single-pole vineyard in Côte d'Or in Burgundy. It dates back to the 12th century when the convent was built by the Cistercian nuns of Notre Dame de Tate. In 2017, French billionaire François Pinault purchased the domaine for more than $260 million. The vineyard covers 7.5 hectares (18.5 acres) and received Grand Cru status in 1939. The estate only produces two wines, both from Pinot Noir, the Grand Cru Clos de Tart and the Premier Cru La Forge de Tart, which carries the Morey-Saint-Denis designation.
