🏰 Revered for its rarity and exceptional quality, the 2006 d'Auvenay Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru embodies the pinnacle of Burgundy Pinot Noir. This Grand Cru from a challenging yet rewarding vintage offers a complex bouquet of ripe red and dark berries, intertwined with earthy undertones, subtle spice, and a hint of forest floor. The palate reveals a wine of remarkable depth and structure, with fine-grained tannins and a persistent, elegant finish, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of d'Auvenay.
🍴 This exquisite red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine such as roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, pan-seared foie gras, or a delicate mushroom risotto. For a more adventurous pairing, consider a slow-cooked beef bourguignon or aged Comté cheese.
🥂 Perfect for a milestone celebration or an intimate gathering of serious wine connoisseurs. This wine is a statement piece, ideal for those who appreciate the profound expression of a Grand Cru Burgundy. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F) after decanting for at least 1-2 hours to allow its intricate aromas to fully unfold.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
