FEATURES
🏰 【A rare and exceptional white Bordeaux from a legendary estate】, the Chateau Margaux Pavillon Blanc 1986, though specific tasting notes for this vintage are scarce, is known for its 100% Sauvignon Blanc composition, offering a profile of elegance and remarkable aging potential. Expect a wine that has developed complex tertiary aromas, possibly hints of honey, nuts, and dried fruits, alongside its inherent freshness. 🍴 This aged white Bordeaux would be exquisite with delicate seafood dishes like pan-seared scallops, grilled turbot, or even a refined Cantonese steamed fish. Its complexity also allows it to pair beautifully with roasted chicken in a creamy sauce or mild, aged goat cheese. 🥂 Ideal for a milestone celebration or a connoisseur's tasting. Given its age, the cork and capsule might be fragile, so open with care. Decanting is generally not recommended for very old white wines, but a brief aeration in the glass can be beneficial. Serve slightly chilled, around 10-12°C (50-54°F), to allow its intricate aromas to unfold. Be prepared for potential sediment, though less common in white wines.
BACKGROUND
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux's most famous wine estates, located just east of Margaux itself in the Médoc. Along with Lafite, Latour and Haut-Brion, it was rated as a first growth in the original 1855 Bordeaux Classification of the Médoc. There are also 12 hectares (30 acres) of Sauvignon Blanc to make Margaux's white offering, Pavillon Blanc, which must be sold as Bordeaux AOP, not Margaux. The red wines are fermented in a mix of traditional wooden and stainless steel vats; the grand vin sees between 18 and 26 months aging in new oak barrels.
