The 1990 Chateau Léoville Barton is a testament to a long-lived vintage, opened in memory of Anthony Barton, and hails from a 2nd Growth estate still family-owned since the 1855 Classification. This vintage is celebrated for its exceptional concentration, being full-bodied, powerful, and possessing remarkable length. Robert Parker lauded its polished, sweeter tannins alongside a generous bouquet of black currant, forest floor, cedar, and spice box notes. Expect a ruby red hue with some bricking at the edge, and a spellbinding nose of plums, leather, cedar, and cigar box. The palate reveals currants, cassis, tobacco, and earth, all culminating in an exceptional finish with super silky tannins. Other intricate notes include fruitcake, dried cranberries, potpourri, unsmoked cigars, and hints of ground cloves and incense.
🍴 Food Pairing: This classic Bordeaux pairs beautifully with a hearty pork roast and roasted smashed Yukon gold potatoes. It's also an excellent match for beef and venison.
🥂 Event Suggestions: A truly classic and incredibly classy wine, the 1990 Chateau Léoville Barton is perfect for special occasions, sophisticated dinners, or any gathering where a gracefully aged and complex wine is appreciated. 【Exceptional concentration and super silky tannins from a long-lived vintage】
BACKGROUND
Château Léoville Barton is a vineyard in the Saint-Julien region of Bordeaux, ranked a second growth in the 1855 Classification. The vineyard, which has gravel soils over clay, is planted 74 percent to Cabernet Sauvignon, 23 percent to Merlot and 3 percent to Cabernet Franc. After a manual harvest, fermentation takes place in large temperature-controlled wooden vats, and then the wine is aged in 50 percent new oak barrels.
