🏰 Château de Pommard's Pommard Grand Vin 1999 is a 【very concentrated and powerful wine】 from an exceptional climatic vintage, offering intense aromas of red and black fruits. The 1999 vintage in Burgundy experienced a hot and dry summer, allowing grapes to ripen perfectly, resulting in a wine with deep, vibrant color and firm tannins that have softened beautifully over time. Expect a classic, firm red Burgundy with notes of tart cherry, toast, leather, licorice, and earthy undertones, showcasing layers of nuance and finesse.
🍴 This mature and powerful Burgundy is an excellent match for hearty meat dishes. Pair it with roasted red meats like filet mignon of beef or rack of lamb, game dishes, traditional beef bourguignon, or rich stews. It also complements soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert, and aged washed-rind cheeses like Époisses.
🥂 An ideal wine for a celebratory dinner, a significant anniversary, or a gathering where a mature, complex red Burgundy will be appreciated. It's drinking beautifully now, but still has the structure to hold for several more years.
BACKGROUND
Chateau de Pommard is a winery and wine merchant located in the Burgundy region. While best known for its namesake Pommard wine, the portfolio also includes a range of Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir from across the Côte d'Or. Chardonnay wine. This also includes some grand cru wines. In addition to its two unique chateau buildings, the winery has 20 hectares (50 acres) of walled vineyard Clos Marey-Monge. The estate dates back to its founding in 1726 by a nobleman of the court of Louis XV. The property was purchased by Maurice Giraud in 2003 and an improvement plan was implemented. In 2016 it was acquired by Silicon Valley businessman Michael Baum, whose team has begun converting the estate to biodynamic farming.
