🏰 The 1996 La Bastide de Dauzac is the second wine of Château Dauzac, offering a 【delightful glimpse into the Margaux terroir with over a quarter-century of age】. The 1996 Bordeaux vintage was particularly excellent for Cabernet Sauvignon, producing structured, long-lived wines. Expect a wine with 【beautifully mature dark fruit aromas, intertwined with classic notes of cedar, tobacco, and earthy nuances】. On the palate, it will typically be 【elegant and refined, with resolved tannins, good acidity, and a graceful, lingering finish】 that showcases the benefits of careful cellaring.
🍴 This mature claret is a superb accompaniment to roasted lamb, beef Wellington, rich stews, and mature cheddar or other hard cheeses.
🥂 A delightful choice for a special dinner, a vertical tasting of Bordeaux, or for enjoying a beautifully aged claret. This wine is from an older vintage, and while it offers a unique and complex tasting experience, please be mindful of the cork and capsule condition. Older wines can sometimes show bottle variation.
BACKGROUND
Château Dauzac is a producer making Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux blends in the Labarde commune of Margaux, and was ranked a fifth growth in the 1855 Classification of Medoc and Graves. Today, the Dauzac estate covers 120 hectares (295 acres) of land, 45ha (111 acres) of which are planted to vineyards. These are roughly at a 65 percent to 35 percent ratio of Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot. This vineyard provides fruit for the grand vin and the second wine, Labastide Dauzac, while a 3-ha (7-acre) plot in the Haut-Médoc provides fruit for Dauzac's third wine, Château Labarde. A fourth wine, Aurore de Dauzac, was made exclusively in the 2013 vintage.
