FEATURES
🏰 The 2006 Clos du Marquis, the second wine of Château Léoville Las Cases, is a serious and full vintage, often exhibiting a character similar to the grand vin but with a more fruit-forward and precocious personality. The spring of 2006 was cool, followed by an even blossoming in May. July saw very hot days, while August was cool and dry. Dry and hot weather returned in early September, allowing for a good harvest despite a rainy period in between. This vintage received almost all of the estate's Cabernet Franc in 2006, contributing to its structure.
Tasting notes reveal a bright, full ruby-red color. Aromas include ripe blackberry, kirsch, cedar, and sexy oak, with secondary notes of olive tapenade, cigar wrapper, and juicy cassis. The palate is rich, broad, and pliant, with chewy, vibrant flavors of black fruits and licorice, boasting excellent texture and depth for a second wine. It finishes with substantial dusty, fine tannins and excellent length, showing a lovely core of cool fruit and racy, caressing tannins. Some critics note a complex and dark character beneath the delicious surface, with immense but velvet tannins suggesting considerable potential. 【 Serious Second Wine with Grand Vin Character 】
