FEATURES
🏰【The 2017 Francesco Sobrero Barolo Parussi, from a warm and concentrated vintage, offers a powerful and structured expression of Nebbiolo, showcasing ripe red fruits, tar, and floral notes from this esteemed single vineyard.】 The 2017 vintage in Barolo was warm and dry, leading to early ripening and producing wines that are generally ripe, concentrated, and approachable earlier than some vintages, yet with good underlying structure. Francesco Sobrero is known for crafting traditional Barolo. This Barolo Parussi, from a single vineyard, is expected to deliver notes of red cherry, plum, rose, tar, and licorice, supported by firm tannins and good acidity, promising a classic Piedmontese experience.
🍴 This robust Barolo is an excellent companion for braised beef, truffle dishes, aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano, or a rich wild boar ragu.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion, or to enjoy with hearty Italian cuisine. It has the structure to age further, but is also showing well now.
BACKGROUND
Sobrero Francesco is a traditional, family-run winery located in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo region, Piedmont. Founded in 1940, the estate is now managed by the third generation, Flavio Sobrero. They are dedicated to expressing the unique nuances of Nebbiolo through classic winemaking techniques, including long macerations and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. The 'Parussi' vineyard is located in Castiglione Falletto, known for its complex soils of marl and sandstone. Barolo Parussi is characterized by its elegance, aromatic complexity (rose, tar, cherry), and firm, refined tannins, offering excellent aging potential.
