🏰 The 2021 Gerard Raphet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a 【Burgundy lover's Burgundy, embodying the refreshing and traditional character of the 2021 vintage with forceful intensity and refined structure】. Sourced from old vines (60-80 years, some even 100 years old) in a historic parcel, this 100% Pinot Noir displays a delicate ruby hue yet surprises with powerful aromas of earth, baking spices, and a medley of red and black berries. On the palate, it's full-bodied yet deceptively light, offering vibrant red and black forest fruit, vanilla, cloves, licorice, leather, pu-erh tea, and delicate rose petals, all framed by ultra-polished, fine-grained tannins and a racy, mouth-watering acidity. This tightly wound vintage is estimated to begin its optimal drinking window around 2033, promising excellent aging potential.
🍴 This elegant and structured Grand Cru pairs magnificently with rich proteins and classic French cuisine. Think roasted pork loin with savory herbs, classic roast chicken with root vegetables, duck breast with a sour cherry reduction, or wild mushroom tarts. It also harmonizes with semi-firm cheeses like Comté and Tomme de Savoie.
🥂 Perfect for a special occasion, a serious Burgundy tasting, or a long-term cellar investment. This wine is currently very youthful and will benefit significantly from extended cellaring. If enjoying in its youth, a decant of 2-3 hours is highly recommended to allow its complex layers to unfold. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
