🏰Experience a rare piece of Burgundy history with the Charles Noellat Richebourg Grand Cru 1978, a venerable red Pinot Noir from a historical producer. This mature Grand Cru offers incredible aromatics, with a complex bouquet of 【sous bois (forest floor), strawberry compote, spice, leather, and gamey notes】. While it may start a bit metallic or thin, with extended air, it blossoms into a powerful, peaty, smoky, and gamy nose, revealing abundant dark fruits and a long, captivating finish.
🍴 Classic pairings for this exquisite wine include roasted duck, goose, and various game birds. It also harmonizes beautifully with earthy dishes such as mushroom risotto or truffle pasta.
🥂 This is a truly special occasion wine, perfect for a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday for a Burgundy connoisseur, or a serious wine tasting among enthusiasts. It's a rare opportunity to savor a mature Grand Cru Burgundy.
Serving suggestion: This 1978 Richebourg Grand Cru is a venerable wine, offering a glimpse into Burgundy's past. Expect a delicate, evolved palate with tertiary aromas. The cork and capsule may be fragile, so careful opening is advised. Decant gently for 1-2 hours to allow it to open up and shed any sediment, serving at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
BACKGROUND
Charles Noëllat is the current wine merchant brand in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. The few original wines left are very sought-after and very rare. The Noëllat family has a long history of wine production in Vosne-Romanée, started in the early 20th century by brothers Charles and Ernest. Descendants of Charles and Ernest are winemakers at Domaine Georges Noëllat and Domaine Michel Noëllat et Fils respectively.
