Laurent Ponsot, Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers Du Sorbier 1er Cru, 2021
🏰 The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was notoriously challenging due to severe spring frosts and mildew, leading to significantly reduced yields. However, despite the adversity, resilient winemakers crafted wines of remarkable elegance, freshness, and purity, often described as a "small but mighty vintage". The best 2021 reds are characterized by delightful aromas of red fruit and flowers, delicate palates with light and finely textured tannins, and a crisp, bright, and lively freshness. Laurent Ponsot's Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers du Sorbier 1er Cru 2021, from this unique vintage, is expected to embody these characteristics. Chambolle-Musigny wines are typically known for their finesse, aromatic complexity, and silky texture. This vintage is seen as a return to a more classic, retro style of Burgundy, with lower alcohol content and an emphasis on terroir expression. 【A testament to Burgundian resilience, offering a terroir-driven expression despite a challenging vintage】. These wines are often enjoyable in their youth due to their freshness but can also develop beautifully with a few years of cellaring.
🍴 This elegant Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, with its delicate red fruit and floral notes, pairs wonderfully with refined dishes. Think roasted duck breast, pan-seared guinea fowl, delicate veal preparations, or mushroom-based dishes like a wild mushroom risotto. It also complements mild, creamy cheeses beautifully.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a special occasion that calls for a nuanced and elegant red Burgundy, such as an intimate anniversary dinner or a sophisticated gathering of wine enthusiasts. It's also a compelling choice for a comparative tasting of 2021 Burgundy, showcasing the triumph of quality over adversity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Laurent Ponsot is Laurent Ponsot who resigned from Domaine Ponsot in early 2017 and established his own business in Burgundy with his son.
