🏰The 1998 Chateau Malescot St. Exupery is a beautifully aged Margaux from a good Bordeaux vintage, now offering 【evolved dark fruits, classic cedar, tobacco, and leather notes with a refined structure】. This Third Growth is known to require at least 10-12 years of bottle age to show its best, and the 1998 is now in a prime drinking window.
🍴 This mature red Bordeaux is best served with all types of classic meat dishes, including roasted venison, braised beef cheeks, or grilled lamb. It also pairs well with hearty Asian dishes, mushroom-based pasta, or aged Comté cheese.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner, a special anniversary, or for enjoying with fellow Bordeaux enthusiasts.
BACKGROUND
Château Malescot St Exupéry is a wine estate in the Margaux appellation, which was rated as a third growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The winery and cellars are in the town of Margaux itself, while 28 hectares (69 acres) of vineyards are farmed in five parcels within the commune. Typically the blend comprises 50 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 percent Merlot, 10 percent Cabernet Franc and 5 percent Petit Verdot. Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats using indigenous yeasts, with gentle pump-overs. The grand vin is aged for 14-16 months in new oak and bottled without filtration or fining.
