🏰 Faiveley's Batard Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 is a magnificent white Burgundy from a vintage known for producing wines of both richness and freshness. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy was generally well-regarded, offering wines with good balance and expressive fruit. Batard Montrachet, a Grand Cru vineyard, consistently yields powerful and complex Chardonnay. Expect this wine to showcase a beautiful balance of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, and floral notes, intertwined with a pronounced minerality and a hint of toasted nuts or brioche from oak aging. It will possess a rich texture, vibrant acidity, and a long, compelling finish.
🍴 This opulent white Burgundy would be an extraordinary pairing for luxurious Cantonese seafood, such as steamed fresh abalone (清蒸鮮鮑魚) or baked crab with cheese and butter (芝士牛油焗蟹). For Western cuisine, consider roasted turbot with truffle sauce, pan-seared scallops with a rich cream sauce, or a classic chicken in a morel cream sauce.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a grand celebration, a significant anniversary, or a serious tasting among white Burgundy enthusiasts. It is approachable now with a decant, but its true potential will unfold with 5-15+ years of cellaring, developing greater complexity and depth. Serve chilled at 10-12°C (50-54°F).
