FEATURES
🏰 Widely regarded as the 'first among the Super-Seconds', Château Léoville Las Cases consistently challenges Premier Crus in quality, and the 2007 vintage is a strong effort from an often-underestimated year. This Bordeaux red offers a complex bouquet of dark fruits, burning embers, cedar box, and toasty oak, leading to a medium to full-bodied palate with a fleshy mid-palate and powdery tannins. Expect notes of tobacco leaf, cedar, currants, and forest aromas, evolving into pure black cherries, blackcurrant, cassis, violets, and a hint of blood orange, all supported by 【filigree tannins and a long, refined finish】. 🍴 Perfect for pairing with classic meat dishes like roasted lamb, beef, or duck. It also complements hearty fish courses such as tuna, mushroom-based dishes, and a selection of fine cheeses. 🥂 This sophisticated red is an excellent choice for a special dinner, a serious wine tasting, or a significant celebration where a wine of pedigree and aging potential is desired.
BACKGROUND
Château Léoville-Las Cases is an estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, ranked as a second growth in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc and Graves. The estate has a history dating back to the mid-17th century, when it used to be part of a much larger estate. There are 98 hectares (242 acres) of vineyards, planted with 66 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 24 percent Merlot, 9 percent Cabernet Franc and 1 percent Petit Verdot. The vineyard's soils are mostly gravel over sand and clay, with some areas where the clay reaches the surface. The proximity of the Gironde moderates weather extremes, lowering the risk of frost and allowing grapes to ripen earlier than vineyards further inland. The vines are on average 40 years old.
