Etienne Sauzet, Puligny Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru, 2009
🏰 Etienne Sauzet's Puligny Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru 2009 is a 【benchmark white Burgundy known for its perfect concentration and energy】, hailing from a prestigious Premier Cru site. The 2009 vintage in Burgundy was generally warm, yielding rich, ripe wines. This wine, now beautifully aged, offers a complex profile with notes of hazelnut, tobacco, and truffle, complemented by fresh lemon and lime nuances, showcasing remarkable purity, finesse, and a vibrant minerality from its limestone-rich terroir.
🍴 This sophisticated white Burgundy is a dream with haute cuisine. Think pan-seared foie gras, Breton lobster with a rich beurre blanc sauce, or a luxurious risotto with black truffle. It also beautifully complements fish and shellfish in cream sauces, lighter poultry dishes like roasted chicken with herbs, and strong, aged cheeses such as Munster or mature Comté.
🥂 Perfect for a celebratory dinner, a significant anniversary, or a sophisticated gathering where a truly fine, aged white Burgundy will be appreciated. Serve chilled, but not too cold, to allow its complex aromas to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Etienne Sauzet is an estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, France, making some of the most sought-after Chardonnay wines in Burgundy. The domaine is made up of 15 hectares (37 ac) of estate vineyards split . Etienne Sauzet was established at the forefront of Puligny-Montrachet production by Etienne Sauzet himself (1903-1975). His 12 hectare (30 ac) estate was taken over by his son-in-law Gérard Boudot, although in 1991 Boudot's cousin Jean-Marc Boillot took out his share of vineyards, requiring Boudot and his family to make additional acquisitions to bring the property back to its current size.
