🏰 The 2012 Bordeaux vintage was challenging but produced some exceptional dry white wines, particularly from Pessac-Léognan. A rainy spring caused delays in budburst and flowering, but a hot, dry August and a sunny ripening period in September with cool nights proved excellent for white grapes. The white harvest was largely completed before late September rains, resulting in wines with high sugar potential and very good acidity. 【 An excellent second wine from a top estate, offering remarkable freshness, richness, and complexity for its vintage 】
This wine presents a brilliant pale gold or clear yellow colour with green hints. The nose is intense with fresh citrus fruit, white peach, exotic fruit, and stony, smoky mineral notes, along with hints of gooseberries, lime, and black currant leaves. On the palate, it offers superb freshness combined with great richness, a lovely full-bodied mouthfeel, well-integrated oak, and vibrant acidity. It's a very pure and straight wine, showing unctuousness from the Sémillon, balanced by fruit and soil acidity, leading to a very long, precise, and elegant finish.
🍴 A perfect wine to serve with all types of seafood, fish, shellfish (crab, lobster), chicken, veal, pork, and a myriad of hard and soft cheeses. It also pairs well with roast white meats, meaty fish, white sauce dishes, and fried food.
🥂 This white Bordeaux is still quite youthful and can be appreciated now for its fruity and racy character, or cellared to develop further complexity. It's a versatile choice for a sophisticated lunch, a seafood dinner, or a celebratory gathering.
