【Ridge Vineyards' Geyserville 2014, a single-site Zinfandel field blend crafted annually since 1966 by this legendary winery, showcases the unique charm and exceptional quality of California's old vines.】 The 2014 vintage was mild, with a gentle winter and cool spring/early summer delaying ripening. Despite a third year of drought, warm summer weather led to a fast-paced harvest. Low Zinfandel yields gave greater prominence to Carignane and Petite Sirah in the blend. The wine was aged for thirteen months in 100% air-dried American oak barrels. It displays a dark purple/ruby color. The intense aroma offers blackberry jam, candied plums, gravel, spearmint, sweet oak, and tropical floral notes. The palate has a fresh, intense bramble fruit entry with lively acidity and elegant tannins, along with mint and gravelly earth. It's a multi-dimensional, layered, deep, and seductive wine with a lingering finish. Also noted are black cherry, raspberry liqueur, earth, and pepper flavors.
