🏰 The 1998 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot is a significant vintage, notably for being one of the few years Thierry Allemand produced his "Sans Soufre" (sulfur-free) cuvée, showcasing his experimental approach to winemaking. Thierry Allemand is a legendary producer in Cornas, known for crafting wines of exceptional purity from single-vineyard sites like Chaillot. The 1998 vintage in the Northern Rhône was generally considered good, with wines often described as concentrated and structured. This Syrah-based wine is known for its earthy notes, often displaying characteristics of smoke and leather. 【 Thierry Allemand's pioneering "Sans Soufre" experiment in 1998 】
🍴 This robust Cornas pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes such as grilled lamb, braised short ribs, or duck with olives. It also complements earthy mushroom dishes or hard aged cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a special dinner celebrating a milestone, or for a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts looking to explore a benchmark Northern Rhône Syrah from a revered producer.
BACKGROUND
Thierry Allemand is a leading producer of wines from the Syrah grape in the Cornas region of the Northern Rhone Valley. Renowned for their varietal expression and velvety texture, the wines have a loyal following and the estate was formed by Alleman starting in the 1980s by purchasing large areas of small abandoned land. Less than 5 hectares (12 acres) in size. Only 500 cases of the top Les Chaillots and Reynard cuvées are available, always in short supply.
