Les Horees, Pernand Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Fichots, 2023
🏰 The 2023 Pernand Vergelesses 1er Cru 'Les Fichots' from Les Horées is anticipated to be a wine of impressive concentration and power, reflecting the clay-and-iron-dominated soils of its vineyard, which boasts exceptionally old vines over 70 years of age. This vintage, marked by a warm and dry summer followed by a cool autumn, allowed for optimal grape maturation, promising balanced and concentrated wines. Expect a beautiful ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose is expressive with fresh red fruit notes of cherry and raspberry, complemented by spicy and floral hints. On the palate, it's fresh and elegant with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a persistent finish featuring red fruit and subtle minerality. Some notes also suggest plush red fruit and cocoa, with a little grip, making it a Pernand that punches above its weight. The wine reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity, mixing notes of red fruits, pepper and green anise, bringing a pleasant spicy freshness. The palate is tender with a well-integrated woody touch. 【Impressive concentration and power from old vines】.
🍴 This Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru pairs excellently with matured rib steak, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or cheeses like Époisses and Brillat-Savarin. It's also ideal for roasted or grilled meats such as leg of lamb, roast beef, or grilled pork. For a more traditional pairing, consider coq au vin or beef cooked in a wine sauce like Boeuf Bourguignon.
🥂 This elegant and structured red Burgundy is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special family gathering, or a celebratory meal where fine red meats are served. Its complexity and aging potential also make it a thoughtful gift for a wine enthusiast.
