🏰The 2017 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Montrachet Grand Cru is a **【superb and expressive example from one of Burgundy's greatest white wine producers】**, comfortably standing alongside other excellent vintages. This wine embodies the pinnacle of Chardonnay, showcasing profound depth and complexity from its fabled Grand Cru terroir.
Expect a full-bodied, elegantly muscular, and layered wine. The nose offers captivating aromas of buttered orchard fruit, honeycomb, orange oil, ripe peaches, freshly baked bread, and clear honey, intertwined with a striking mid-palate amplitude and a long, resonant finish.
🍴 This majestic Montrachet is incredibly food-friendly, especially with creamy or buttery dishes. It excels with roasted vegetables, rich fish soups, lobster or salmon with drawn butter, and poultry in cream sauces. For cheeses, opt for creamy Brie or Camembert, nutty Gruyère and Comté, or pungent aged Gouda and Époisses.
🥂 This is a wine for grand celebrations, milestone anniversaries, or a truly luxurious dinner. It's a privileged choice for serious wine tastings, offering a profound and memorable experience that can evolve splendidly for many years.
BACKGROUND
Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a wine producer in Burgundy, France, making some of the most lauded (and highly priced) white wines from Chardonnay in the region. The primary grape variety is Chardonnay, with a small portion being Pinot Noir. The estate is located in Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion, but has vineyards in three other villages: Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthélie. Comtes Lafon's house and cellar were built in 1869 by the Boch family, but its reputation as a winery was most heavily influenced by Jules Lafon, who married Marie Boch in 1894.
