Georges Roumier, Morey St Denis Clos De La Bussiere 1er Cru, 2014
🏰The 2014 Domaine Georges Roumier Morey St Denis Clos de la Bussiere 1er Cru is an 【exceptional Premier Cru Burgundy from an exclusive monopole vineyard】, highly sought-after for its purity and elegance. The 2014 vintage, despite a challenging growing season with a hailstorm, was saved by a "miracle" September, resulting in a wine of remarkable focus and tension. It presents a lifted, charming bouquet with ample black plum, damson, and incense aromas, alongside red and black cherries, pomegranate, and a touch of raw cocoa. On the palate, it's fresh and crisp with supple tannins, offering lovely balance and a mineral seam that leads to a tensile and poised finish. This medium-bodied yet richly layered Pinot Noir showcases red and black fruit, minerality, and fine-grained tannins, balanced by vibrant acidity. It's entering its prime drinking window but can be cellared until 2035+ for even greater depth and complexity.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French dishes like duck confit or roast lamb. It also shines alongside truffle-infused dishes, wild mushrooms, or a selection of aged cheeses. For an East-meets-West approach, consider Cantonese roasted goose or pan-seared Wagyu beef with a light mushroom sauce.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a quiet evening appreciating a fine, age-worthy Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Roumier is a wine producer based in the Côte de Nuits village of Chambolle-Musigny that produces some of the most expensive, best-rated and most popular wines in Burgundy. The winery did not purchase the land directly, but used the French sharecropper/lease system, in which individuals farmed the land for the owner in exchange for a certain percentage of agricultural products. Now, Christophe has taken over the work of the winery and has become the owner of the winery. The current winemaker of the village. He pays close attention to terroir, so little new oak is used, and fermentation temperatures are kept low to allow the wine’s delicious flavors and aromas to shine through.
