🏰【This 1978 Chateau de la Tour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is an incredibly fresh and pure mature 布根地, reminiscent of top 1978 Rousseau, delivering a crescendo of red cherry flavor with impressive aromatic expression and a delicate texture.】 1978 was a good vintage for 布根地. This wine is from an era when the estate bottled all grapes from its plots as one cuvee. Château de la Tour is the largest owner of acreage within the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru appellation. Expect an expressive and cool nose of sous-bois, spice, and plenty of earth character. The palate is texturally soft, with intense, muscular, and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors offering fine depth on the smoky, balanced, and persistent finish. It shows a pinkish/red core with a wide brick rim, healthy acidity, some (not fresh) berry flavors, and prominent Vosne spice and forest floor notes.
🍴 This relatively light red wine pairs with a wide variety of foods. Classic 布根地 pairings include roasted poultry, game birds, mushroom dishes, coq au vin, and mild cheeses.
🥂 This beautifully aged 布根地 is ideal for a special occasion, a vertical tasting, or as a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy connoisseur. This 1978 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a beautifully aged 布根地. Expect complex tertiary notes of forest floor, spice, and dried red fruits, with a delicate texture. The wine is drinking well now, but handle the old cork and capsule with care. Decant carefully to remove sediment. Serve at 16-18 degrees Celsius (60-64 degrees Fahrenheit).
