De La Vougeraie, Charmes Chambertin Aux Mazoyeres Grand Cru, 2009
🏰 The 2009 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered excellent, producing ripe, rich, and concentrated wines. De La Vougeraie's Charmes Chambertin Aux Mazoyeres Grand Cru from this year would likely reflect these characteristics, offering a powerful yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir. Charmes-Chambertin is known for producing aromatic and charming wines, often described as more feminine than some of its Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru neighbors. The 'Aux Mazoyères' parcel is often considered to contribute depth and structure. While specific tasting notes for the 2009 vintage of this particular wine were not readily available, wines from this appellation and vintage typically show notes of red and dark berries, floral hints, and a savory, earthy undertone, evolving with age to reveal more complex tertiary aromas. 【 A powerful yet elegant expression of 2009 Burgundy Grand Cru 】
🍴 This Grand Cru Burgundy calls for equally refined food pairings. Consider roasted game birds like pheasant or partridge, pan-seared duck breast with a cherry reduction, or a classic beef bourguignon. Its elegance also makes it a good match for truffle-infused dishes or mature, earthy cheeses like Époisses or Comté.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a special celebratory dinner, a significant anniversary, or a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs. The 2009 vintage is well-regarded for its aging potential, suggesting this wine is in a beautiful drinking window now but can continue to evolve. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving can help it open up and express its complex aromatics.
BACKGROUND
Domaine de la Vougeraie is an estate formed by the merger of multiple vineyard assets acquired by the Boisset family in the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. One of the newer wineries in Burgundy, the first vintage produced was 1999. The winery is located in the village of Premo between Côte de Nuits, which is dominated by Pinot Noir, and Côte de Beaune, which is dominated by Chardonnay. It owns land in 6 Grand Crus, 8 Premier Crus and 11 rural appellations. Among them, the white wine produced by the small venue adjacent to Clos de Vougeot is very popular in Burgundy.
