🏰The 1983 Chateau d'Yquem is a 【spectacular Sauternes】, considered by some to be the greatest vintage of the early 1980s and the best Yquem since 1976. It is among the most concentrated wines from the property, with a staggering display of extract and a mind-boggling amount of glycerin. This medium-gold wine offers an extraordinary nose of 【honey-dripped coconuts, pineapple, caramel, crème brulee, orange marmalade, and saffron】. Unctuously textured and full-bodied, with massive richness, great sweetness, and a killer line of acidity, it is a seamless classic that is still young and will probably be immortal, with an anticipated maturity of 2005-2075.
🍴 This iconic sweet wine pairs perfectly with foie gras, blue cheese (like Roquefort), fruit tarts, crème brûlée, or roasted pineapple.
🥂 An iconic wine for a monumental celebration, a luxurious dessert course, or a profound tasting experience. This 1983 Yquem is a mature yet still remarkably youthful sweet wine, known for its incredible aging potential. While it's hitting its adolescence, it still has decades of life ahead. Be gentle with the cork and capsule. Decanting is generally not necessary for Yquem, but if there's sediment, a very careful decant just before serving is advisable. Serve chilled at 10-12°C (50-54°F).
