🏰The Joseph Drouhin Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru 2020 is a wine of incomparable finesse, considered by many to be the ultimate expression of Chablis' unique terroir. Joseph Drouhin, a historic Burgundy négociant, was instrumental in revitalizing this Grand Cru in the 1960s. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy yielded elegant and fine whites with beautiful fruit and tension.
This wine boasts a 【pale gold-yellow color with greenish hints】 and a 【refined nose of lily, honey, or preserved lemon】, evolving to 【apricot, peach, and a hint of rose】 with aeration. The palate offers 【astounding depth and a velvety sensation】, with 【delicate marine nuances, vibrant acidity, and beautifully mature fruits】, leading to an intense, long, and delicious finish.
🍴 Versatile with light and bright dishes, it excels with wok vegetables and fish, asparagus salad with quinoa, Milanese risotto, pan-fried Saint-Jacques scallops, and even a delicate strawberry cake dessert.
🥂 An exceptional wine for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or as a cherished gift for any Chablis enthusiast. It possesses very good aging potential.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
