🏰 The 1993 E. Guigal Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde is a testament to 【Guigal's mastery in a challenging vintage】, showcasing remarkable depth and longevity. This iconic Northern Rhone Syrah, with a touch of Viognier, presents a mature garnet-brick color. The nose offers subtle sandalwood, tea aromas, and light dried cherry and cedar notes, evolving into spices and red berries. On the palate, it reveals round, soft tannins with flavors of raspberry, blackberry, and vanilla, demonstrating a beautiful balance and impressive aging potential.
🍴 This bold and structured red wine is perfect with dishes that can stand up to its complexity. Classic pairings include roasted lamb, grilled steak, or a hearty lamb stew. It also complements game meats such as venison, pheasant, or duck, as well as red meats with rich sauces.
🥂 Ideal for a special occasion or a vertical tasting of Cote Rotie, this wine is a superb choice for those who appreciate mature Rhone expressions. Given its age, expect some sediment; careful decanting is recommended to separate it from the wine and allow the remaining aromas to fully open up. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). The cork and capsule may be fragile, so open with care.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
