FEATURES
🏰 The 2005 Bordeaux vintage is widely regarded as one of the most consistent and exceptional of the decade, benefiting from excellent sanitary conditions and well-distributed rainfall. Clay-limestone terroirs produced exceptional Merlots, deep in color, concentrated, rich in phenolic compounds, and endowed with a silky texture. Château Grand Mayne 2005 is a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It presents classic aromas of blueberries, cedar, vanillin, black currants, and spring flowers. On the palate, it's broad, rich, and jammy with fruit flavors, a full-bodied, highly-extracted style, moderate tannins, and excellent harmony and purity. Reviewers note a broody bouquet with black fruit, chimney soot, and tobacco scents, leading to a medium-bodied palate with grippy tannins, bold structure, and superb acidity. It's considered one of the finest Grand Mayne releases in recent years. 【A sleeper of the vintage, potentially rivalling Grand Mayne's brilliant 1998.】
🍴 Château Grand Mayne is best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, including veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, and various roasted, braised, and grilled preparations. It also complements Asian dishes, rich fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, and pasta.
🥂 An excellent choice for a formal dinner, a special celebration, or a gathering of wine lovers appreciating a well-aged and powerful Bordeaux. Young vintages can be decanted for 1-2 hours, while older vintages might need very little decanting, just enough to remove sediment.
