Olivier Bernstein, Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru, 2008
🏰【From the highly acclaimed negociant Olivier Bernstein, this 2008 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru offers a powerful and concentrated expression from a challenging yet rewarding Burgundy vintage.】 While specific tasting notes for this particular wine and vintage are not widely available, Olivier Bernstein is known for crafting intense, often oak-influenced Grand Cru Burgundies. The 2008 Burgundy red vintage, though challenging, produced elegant, fresh, and savory wines with good acidity. Mazis Chambertin, a Pinot Noir Grand Cru, is celebrated for its power, structure, dark fruit, and earthy/mineral notes, typically requiring significant aging. Expect a wine with vibrant acidity, a core of red and dark fruits, earthy undertones, firm yet evolving tannins, and a savory character, potentially enhanced by Bernstein's signature richness.
🍴 This serious Grand Cru Pinot Noir pairs exceptionally well with roasted game, such as venison loin or wild boar ragu, classic beef bourguignon, or a rich mushroom risotto. Aged hard cheeses like Comté or Parmesan would also be a superb match.
🥂 A profound and evolving Grand Cru, ideal for a special dinner or a serious tasting, benefiting from decanting to allow its complexities to fully emerge. It offers a fascinating glimpse into a challenging vintage handled by a master producer.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Pierre Boisson/Anne Boisson is a family winery. The winery is run by father Bernard (retired in 2016), son Pierre and daughter Anne. Although it is the same winery, the wines produced by the three people will be labeled separately. on their respective names. They jointly own 8.5 hectares of land around the Cote de Beaune, and the vineyard's terroir is wet stone and flint, giving the grapes more minerality.
