Olivier Bernstein, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, 2008
🏰 The 2008 Olivier Bernstein Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is an elegant and expressive Pinot Noir, considered 【the most charming and approachable of the Gevrey Grand Crus】. Crafted from a blend of parcels in both Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin, it emphasizes elegance over sheer power. The 2008 vintage for Burgundy was largely very good, despite a challenging growing season. This wine offers layers of small red fruits like raspberry, red cherry, and wild strawberry, complemented by savory notes of forest floor, spice, and subtle floral hints. It boasts a medium to full body with supple texture, silky tannins, and vibrant freshness, leading to an elegant finish. Olivier Bernstein is known for producing wines that combine immediate charm with the depth and complexity expected from a Grand Cru Burgundy.
🍴 This elegant Grand Cru Burgundy pairs beautifully with roast duck, veal tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or aged Burgundian cheeses. For a Cantonese touch, consider roasted squab or braised abalone with mushrooms.
🥂 An ideal choice for lovers of elegant Grand Cru Burgundy and collectors seeking approachable yet age-worthy wines. This 2008 vintage is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve. Serve at cellar temperature (around 16-18°C) and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow its mature aromas to fully express themselves. While older wines can sometimes have fragile corks, a careful opening will reveal a delightful experience.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Pierre Boisson/Anne Boisson is a family winery. The winery is run by father Bernard (retired in 2016), son Pierre and daughter Anne. Although it is the same winery, the wines produced by the three people will be labeled separately. on their respective names. They jointly own 8.5 hectares of land around the Cote de Beaune, and the vineyard's terroir is wet stone and flint, giving the grapes more minerality.
