Georges Mugneret Gibourg, Echezeaux Grand Cru, 1990
🏰 The 1990 Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux Grand Cru is a 【prestigious red Burgundy from Vosne-Romanée, considered a benchmark vintage】 that showcases purity and aromatic complexity. It displays a beautiful deep red color, still deeply colored with a hint of bricking at the rim. The elegant nose offers scents of 【raspberries, well-matured cherries, and spices】, alongside notes of ripe cherry, delicate rose, hints of Asian spices, and earthy undertones of truffle and forest floor. The palate features fine and velvety tannins with well-balanced acidity, powerful and concentrated flavors, and a strikingly complex, palate-saturating finale.
🍴 This classic Old World Pinot Noir is an excellent pairing for game birds or mushroom dishes, beef filet in mushroom pastry crust, duck confit, or truffle omelette.
🥂 Ideal for a significant anniversary, a special family gathering, or a contemplative tasting for Burgundy enthusiasts. Given its age, expect a fragile cork and capsule. We recommend standing the bottle upright for several days before opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decant gently for 30-60 minutes to allow the wine to express its full, evolved character, serving at 16-18°C (60-64°F). While there's very little upside development potential remaining, in magnum format, it will live for years to come.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg is a French producer of high-quality Pinot Noir located in the Côte de Nuits, famous for its wines from Burgundy's most popular vineyards. The winery was founded in 1933, and in the 1950s small plots of land were purchased to expand the family's vineyards. Incorporated in 2009 as Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg. The most rare and expensive wines of the winery come from the Grand Cru vineyards Ruchottes Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot and Echézeaux, and it also produces Burgundy red wine from multiple Premier Cru vineyards.
