Rotem & Mounir Saouma, Chateauneuf Du Pape Arioso, 2017
🏰 Rotem & Mounir Saouma's Chateauneuf du Pape Arioso 2017 is a 【highly acclaimed and intensely perfumed Chateauneuf-du-Pape, blending power and delicacy with a sure hand】. The 2017 vintage in Chateauneuf-du-Pape was a smaller vintage impacted by heat and rain, resulting in wines of great concentration and density. This Arioso, sourced from ancient vines planted in 1942 in the lieu-dit Pignan, is celebrated for its deep shimmering magenta color and intensely perfumed aromas of raspberry and boysenberry liqueur, complicated by candied flowers and exotic spices. The palate offers staining red and blue fruit, spicecake, and lavender pastille flavors that deepen steadily, finishing extremely long and spicy with fine-grained, harmonious tannins.
🍴 This powerful and complex red wine is an excellent match for robust and flavorful dishes. Think roasted lamb, grilled beef, or game meats like venison. It also pairs beautifully with rich stews, truffle dishes, or mature cheeses. For an Eastern pairing, consider a slow-cooked Cantonese beef stew with star anise and dried tangerine peel, or a rich Indian lamb curry, where the wine's depth can complement the aromatic spices.
🥂 This wine is drinking beautifully now but has excellent aging potential. It's perfect for a special dinner, a celebratory event, or a serious wine tasting. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended to allow its intricate layers of aroma and flavor to fully unfold.
