FEATURES
🏰 The 2009 Rotem & Mounir Saouma Châteauneuf-du-Pape Arioso is a distinctive red wine from the Southern Rhône, crafted by winemakers known for their non-traditional practices and focus on purity and intensity. The 2009 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape was generally ripe and heady, producing wines with lush fruit flavors. This Arioso, often 100% Grenache Noir from old vines planted on sand, is the first ever vintage of this particular bottling. At 15 years old, it's now showcasing a beautiful evolution, with tertiary notes emerging alongside its fruit core.
【Finesse and intense fruit with uncommon purity】
👃 Tasting Notes: Expect a vivid ruby color. The nose offers intense aromas of black raspberry, minerals, dried flowers, and cola. With age, notes of ripe raspberries turning to darker fruits, dried fine herbs, flowers, and balsamic have been observed. On the palate, it shows a lush core of fig, boysenberry confiture, and steeped plum fruit flavors, with a good spine of iron and violet notes. It's described as ripe and powerful with black and blue fruit, yet elegant and well-balanced.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This rich and intense red blend pairs wonderfully with lamb, game meats, beef dishes, and hearty stews. Consider roasted duck, mushroom and truffle dishes, or even a robust charcuterie board. Its complexity can also stand up to richly flavored Asian cuisine.
🥂 Event suggestions: Ideal for a special occasion dinner, a tasting with fellow wine enthusiasts, or a cozy evening. Given its age, it's in its peak drinking window, but some suggest it can continue to evolve. Decanting for an hour or so is recommended to allow it to fully open up. Serve at around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
