Claude Dugat, Gevrey-chambertin Lavaux St Jacques, 2017
🏰 Claude Dugat's Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques 2017 is a highly regarded red Burgundy from a producer known for crafting powerful yet elegant wines. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered a very good year, producing wines with freshness, purity of fruit, and good aromatic complexity, often showing a more classic profile than the warmer 2018. Lavaux St Jacques is a premier cru vineyard celebrated for its structured, savory, and often intensely mineral-driven Pinot Noirs, with notes of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and a hint of game or forest floor. Claude Dugat's wines are known for their concentration and ability to age gracefully. 【 Powerful yet elegant Premier Cru Burgundy 】.
🍴 This robust Pinot Noir would be an excellent match for hearty dishes such as roasted venison, beef bourguignon, or a rich mushroom and truffle pâté. It also complements aged hard cheeses. For an East Asian pairing, consider a savory Korean short rib stew or a rich Chinese braised duck.
🥂 Ideal for a formal dinner, a special occasion with fellow Burgundy lovers, or as a significant addition to a maturing cellar. This wine offers both immediate pleasure and long-term potential.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Claude Dugat is a Burgundian producer in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. This prestigious small winery produces only a small amount of Pinot Noir wine, with its most popular wines coming from designated Grand Crus. The domaine was founded by Claude's father in 1955, when he purchased a 13th-century building and converted it into a winery and cellar. Dugat bottles three Grand Cru red wines from Griotte-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, as well as two Premier Cru wines.
