FEATURES
🏰 The 2006 vintage for Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Trapet is noted for its complexity and impressive aging potential, capable of cellaring for up to 30 years. It's described as a powerful wine that requires time to harmonize and fully express itself. 【Grand Cru 布根地 with significant aging potential from a respected producer】。This extraordinary wine boasts a bright ruby red color. It bewitches from the first nose with aromas of wild strawberries, cranberry, and cherries, which become very intense with aeration. Fruity notes mingle with earthy and spicy undertones, hints of dried tea leaves, toast, as well as subtle notes of truffles, leather, and mushrooms, creating a lush and imposing bouquet. On the palate, it is finely powerful and virile, complex, with good acidity and well-integrated tannins. Burghound notes ultra-fresh and airy red Pinot fruit liberally laced with earth and underbrush, leading to rich, full, and intense, mineral-driven flavors culminating in a hugely long finish. Vinous describes a complex nose of wild raspberry, tobacco, and earth, with a suave and fine-grained palate. 🥂 This 2006 Chambertin Grand Cru is approaching two decades of age, a testament to its quality and longevity. It's a truly special occasion wine, perfect for a milestone anniversary, a significant celebration, or a serious 布根地 tasting. Its complexity and age-worthiness make it a contemplative wine for connoisseurs. Older wines like this can be quite fragile, so handle the bottle with care. Stand it upright for several days before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting is recommended for 3-4 hours to allow the wine to open up and separate from sediment, but be mindful of its age; very old wines can sometimes fade quickly after prolonged aeration. Check the cork carefully when opening, as older corks can be brittle. 🍴 Duck, goose, and game birds are classic pairings for this wine. It also pairs exceptionally well with roasted lamb, mushroom dishes, and mature, earthy cheeses.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Trapet is a wine company comprised of two estates, one in Alsace, the other in Burgundy. The company in its current dual-region configuration formed when Andrée Trapet inherited her parents' vineyards in Alsace in 2002. Her husband Jean-Louis has run Domaine Trapet Père et Fils in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1990, when he took over from his father Jean.
