🏰 A magnificent 2012 Marcel Deiss Riesling Vendanges Tardives, this biodynamically farmed sweet white wine from Alsace is renowned for its invigorating balance of sweetness and minerality. Despite 2012 being a globally "hit-and-miss" vintage, France generally had a good year. This white Riesling displays a pale yellow hue with green highlights. The expressive nose offers aromas of 【golden stone fruits like apricot, citrus zest, candied lemon, flint, pineapple, and honey】. On the palate, it shows remarkable precision and tension, with a focused, mineral texture and balanced salinity that harmoniously offsets the residual sugars, leading to a long, incisive finish with a persistent mineral imprint.
🍴 This versatile sweet wine pairs beautifully with white fish in lemon butter, sea bass carpaccio, or smoked trout with pink peppercorns. It also elegantly accompanies green asparagus with vinaigrette, wild mushroom risotto, free-range poultry with morel sauce, and fresh herbed cheeses. For fusion cuisine, consider salmon-avocado sushi or sautéed langoustines in lemon-thyme butter. It's also exceptional with pan-seared foie gras, fruity desserts, and blue cheese.
🥂 Perfect as an aperitif, with gastronomic meals, or as a dessert wine for special celebrations. Serve chilled between 8-10°C (46-50°F), and consider decanting a few hours in advance to reveal its full complexity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Marcel Deiss is a pioneer of field blends and biodynamic farming in Alsace. While known for blends, their Riesling Vendanges Tardives (late harvest) is a spectacular sweet wine. It offers intense aromas of candied citrus, honey, and exotic spices, perfectly balanced by Riesling's natural acidity.
