Richard Hemming MW (Jancis Robinson) likes this wine for its classic Loire Chenin Blanc traits. The grapes are sourced from Montbenault in Anjou, near Richard Leroy's vineyards. He was impressed by the honeycomb and crushed apple aromas.
Annual production of 5000, basically only sold in France and this wine has received positive feedback for its elegance, lively palate, and potential for aging.
BACKGROUND
Olivier Lejeune established his winery in Anjou after ten years at Felton Road in New Zealand. In 2017, he met Mark Angeli and acquired vineyards from Richard Leroy. He revitalized a 3-hectare plot, bringing new life to the vines. His dedication is evident in every bottle of Olivier Lejeune Clos Des Plantes.
