Serafin, Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru, 2022
🏰 The 2022 vintage in Burgundy is still very young, but early reports suggest a promising year for red wines, with good concentration and balance. Serafin's Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is a highly regarded wine from a prestigious vineyard known for producing powerful and structured Pinot Noirs. The 2022 expression is expected to showcase the classic Gevrey-Chambertin characteristics of ripe red fruits, black cherry, and subtle spicy notes, alongside earthy and forest floor undertones. It presents a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. On the palate, it offers a fine and elegant attack, followed by a silky tannic structure and a persistent finish with fruity and lightly oaky aromas. Discreet notes of wood and menthol are present on the cooler aromas of wild red currant and plum, with plenty of sauvage character. This well-made effort could be approached young but has the stuffing to repay up to a decade of cellaring. 【 A powerful and elegant Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru with significant aging potential 】.
🍴 This robust Pinot Noir is an excellent pairing for matured ribeye steak, herb-crusted rack of lamb, Boeuf Bourguignon, or roasted lamb with herbs. It also complements well-aged Époisses cheese or creamy Brillat-Savarin.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with red meat, or as a valuable addition to a Burgundy collector's cellar. Serve at 16-18°C (61-64°F) after a brief decanting of 30-60 minutes to allow its youthful tannins to soften and its complex aromas to fully develop.
