FEATURES
🏰 The 1983 Chateau Haut Brion Blanc is a rare and exceptional dry white Bordeaux from a First Growth estate, hailing from a vintage that, while challenging for some reds, was generally good for dry whites and outstanding for sweet whites. The growing season saw extreme weather, but a fine September and October allowed grapes to ripen well. While specific tasting notes for this exact wine are scarce, expect a wine that has evolved beautifully over decades. It would likely offer complex tertiary aromas of honey, toasted nuts, dried apricots, lanolin, and profound mineral notes, with a rich, textured palate balanced by lingering, vibrant acidity. This is a testament to the longevity and pedigree of Haut-Brion Blanc. 【A rare and highly sought-after dry white Bordeaux from a First Growth estate, showcasing the longevity of the 1983 vintage】. 🥂 This exceptional and rare wine is ideal for a landmark celebration, a very exclusive tasting, or as a profound gift for a serious collector. It offers a unique opportunity to experience a piece of Bordeaux history. Serving Advice: Given its venerable age, this wine demands utmost care. The cork may be fragile, so a Durand opener or an Ah-So is highly recommended. Decanting is generally not advised for very old white wines as it can cause them to fade quickly; instead, stand the bottle upright for several days to allow any sediment to settle, then pour very carefully. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 10-12°C (50-54°F), to preserve its delicate aromas and complexity. Be prepared for a wine that has evolved significantly, offering nuanced tertiary notes rather than primary fruit. 🍴 This aged white Bordeaux pairs exquisitely with rich seafood, such as roasted lobster or pan-seared scallops. It also complements poultry in cream sauces, foie gras, and mature, nutty cheeses, where its complexity can truly shine.
Chateau Haut Brion Blanc is the best white wine among Bordeaux region and able to match with top Burgundy white.
BACKGROUND
Château Haut-Brion is the oldest of Bordeaux's five first growths, and one of the most famous wines in the world. Located in Pessac-Léognan, south of the city of Bordeaux, France. The majority of the estate's 51 hectares (126 acres) of vineyard is planted to red varieties with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot covering 48 hectares (118 acres) while three hectares (7.5 acres) are given over to Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The vineyards were established in the 1530s by the Pontac family, changing hands several times throughout the ensuing centuries. Historical evidence shows that Haut-Brion was drunk by King Charles II and Thomas Jefferson, and the famous London diarist Samuel Pepys was also a fan of the wine.
