Claude Dugat, Gevrey-chambertin Lavaux St Jacques, 2000
Red
750ml
Label : Slightly Stained Label
Level : In Neck Level
🏰 The 2000 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered a good, approachable year for red wines, offering charming fruit and earlier drinkability. Claude Dugat is a legendary producer in Gevrey-Chambertin, highly regarded for crafting concentrated and expressive Pinot Noirs. While specific tasting notes for this exact wine and vintage are scarce, one can anticipate a mature Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques to exhibit evolving aromas of red and dark berries, forest floor, game, and earthy undertones. The palate would likely be silky in texture with integrated tannins, reflecting the elegance and depth of a well-aged Burgundy. 【This is a highly sought-after 1er Cru from a legendary Gevrey-Chambertin producer.】
This 2000 vintage is over two decades old, offering a beautiful expression of mature Gevrey-Chambertin. Expect delicate tertiary aromas. Older corks can be fragile, so using a Durand or an Ah-So opener is advisable. Decant carefully for a short period (30 minutes to an hour) to remove sediment and allow it to gently open, but be mindful of its age and potential fragility. Serve at cellar temperature (around 16-18°C).
🍴 This refined red Burgundy would be an exquisite pairing with roasted lamb, classic coq au vin, wild mushroom risotto, or a perfectly aged Comté cheese. Its earthy notes also complement game birds.
🥂 Ideal for a special occasion for Burgundy lovers, a contemplative tasting session, or a refined dinner where its nuanced complexity can be the star.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Claude Dugat is a Burgundian producer in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. This prestigious small winery produces only a small amount of Pinot Noir wine, with its most popular wines coming from designated Grand Crus. The domaine was founded by Claude's father in 1955, when he purchased a 13th-century building and converted it into a winery and cellar. Dugat bottles three Grand Cru red wines from Griotte-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, as well as two Premier Cru wines.
