Fourrier, Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint Jacques 1er Cru, 2008
Red
750ml
label : Good Label

🏰 Jean-Marie Fourrier's Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is highly regarded, often considered Grand Cru quality in all but name. The 2008 vintage in Burgundy was challenging but produced some surprisingly elegant and pure wines, especially from top producers who managed their vineyards meticulously. Expect this wine to display classic Gevrey characteristics: a vibrant ruby hue, with aromas of red berries (cherry, raspberry), forest floor, and subtle spice, evolving into more savory and earthy notes with age. The palate would be precise, with fine-grained tannins and a refreshing acidity, offering a long, mineral-driven finish. It's a wine known for its purity and ability to express its terroir. 【 Premier Cru with Grand Cru quality reputation 】
🍴 Excellent with roasted poultry (like duck or guinea fowl), mushroom risotto, coq au vin, or delicate game dishes.
🥂 Ideal for a special occasion dinner, a Burgundy-focused tasting, or a thoughtful gift for a Pinot Noir enthusiast.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Fourrier is a well-regarded wine producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy's northern Côte de Nuits subregion, France. Its wines mostly made from Pinot Noir. Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family estate in 1994, aged just 23. He worked with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée in the late 1980s. The latter's influence is reflected in the domaine's fastidious approach in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery.
