🏰 The 1996 Marc Bredif Nectar de Vouvray is a 【luscious and vibrant sweet Chenin Blanc from a highly-regarded Loire vintage】, showcasing remarkable longevity and a traditional house style built for the long term. The 1996 Loire Valley vintage was considered very good, especially for sweet wines, and among the best of the 1990s. Marc Bredif is renowned for its Vouvray's quality and age-worthiness, focusing on firm acidity and pure mineral and fruit expression. This 'Nectar' (Moelleux) style wine is fruit-forward with notes of melons, stone fruits, lime, exotic citrus, and floral hints, underpinned by serious acidity and a pleasing texture. Despite its age, it remains fresh, young, and vibrant, offering honeyed pear, baked apple, roasted walnut, a touch of petrol, tart citrus, nutty gorgeousness, and wet rock. It can also reveal honey with ripe nectarines balanced by tart apples and quince on a stony base.
🍴 This exquisite sweet wine is a superb pairing for pan-fried foie gras, pungent blue cheeses like Stilton, or a variety of fruit-based desserts such as apple pie.
🥂 Ideal for a decadent dessert course, special celebrations, or a contemplative tasting experience. For a wine of this age, careful handling is recommended. Stand upright for a day or two before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decant gently if sediment is present, but only shortly before serving to preserve delicate aromas. Serve chilled, around 10-12°C (50-54°F).
