FEATURES
🏰 The 2001 E. Guigal Hermitage Rouge comes from a 【legendary vintage】 in the Northern Rhône, considered the last of a great run of top vintages starting in 1998. This wine is known for its balance, grace, depth, and a sense of serene power, holding the grape's dangerous tendencies on a tight rein. Guigal took a unique approach to vinification, with a longer fermentation (four to five weeks) to extract very suave tannins.
This Hermitage offers a rich nose of 【dark plums, blackberries, and black cherries, followed by black pepper and leather】. On the palate, it's round, smooth, and lush, delivering ripe, spicy berries, a touch of espresso bean, earth, and intense flavor with a bite of freshness. Expect red and black fruit, pencil shavings, licorice with savory spices, and black pepper, with medium tannins and acidity.
🍴 Pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes such as veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, and grilled dishes. Also excellent with heavy Chinese or Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna and salmon, mushrooms, sausage, and pasta. A perfect match for a perfectly cooked ribeye.
🥂 Ideal for special celebrations, a memorable wine for a significant occasion, or a contemplative tasting with fellow enthusiasts. It's a wine that brilliantly rewards aging.
