🏰 The 2013 Giacomo Borgogno Barolo Riserva is a classic expression from a historic producer, hailing from an impressive vintage that showcases classical structure and marked complexity. This Barolo is known for its pronounced acidity and tannic rigor, making it an ideal candidate for extended cellar maturation. James Suckling noted the vintage for its "Beautiful harmony, bright fruit, clarity". Expect a wine with 【intense aromas of dried roses, tar, cherry, and licorice, a powerful yet elegant palate, and a remarkably long, evolving finish】.
🍴 Cantonese food pairing: Superb with roasted squab, braised oxtail, or a rich truffle pasta. Aged Parmesan or a strong hard cheese would also be a delightful match.
🥂 Fit for event: An excellent choice for a special occasion, a serious Italian wine tasting, or a prized addition to any discerning collector's cellar, especially for those who appreciate age-worthy Nebbiolo.
BACKGROUND
Borgogno is one of the oldest and most historic wineries in Barolo, founded in 1761. The estate is famous for its traditional approach, long macerations, and extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks. The Barolo Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages, offering profound complexity, notes of dried cherry, leather, and truffle, with incredible longevity.
