Cecile Tremblay, Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru, 2012
🏰Cécile Tremblay's Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 is a magnificent and highly sought-after Burgundy from a star producer, showcasing profound complexity and remarkable aging potential. Despite a "horrendously difficult growing season" in 2012, Tremblay's meticulous work yielded a wine that is developing beautifully, having shed youthful reduction to reveal a youthful bouquet of 【wild berries, rose hips, exotic spices, musk, and vine smoke】. Full-bodied, velvety, and textural, it presents an interesting and intense palate with precise, big-bodied yet elegant flavors, plenty of minerality, and underlying tension, culminating in a balanced, complex, and seriously long finish. Some notes also highlight its "Gevrey meatiness, but in a pretty way".
🍴 This exquisite Grand Cru Burgundy pairs sublimely with roasted game birds (such as pheasant or squab), truffle-infused dishes, fine cuts of beef like tenderloin, or aged, firm cheeses such as Comté.
🥂 A truly special wine, ideal for a significant celebration, a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs, or as a cornerstone of a fine wine collection. It requires patience to reach its full potential, promising decades of rewarding evolution.
This wine is still relatively young for a Grand Cru Burgundy. Decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended to allow it to open up and resolve any potential reduction. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). It has decades of aging potential.
BACKGROUND
The domaine was founded in 2003 by Cécile Tremblay, the great-grandaughter of Edouard Jayer (himself uncle of the legendary Henri Jayer).
