🏰 Jacques Prieur's Echezeaux Grand Cru 2006 is a testament to the elegance and complexity that can be achieved in a mature Grand Cru Burgundy. The 2006 vintage in Burgundy for reds was generally good, producing wines with charm and good fruit, though perhaps not the longest-lived. This Echezeaux, however, from a top producer like Jacques Prieur, would likely show a beautiful evolution. Expect a nose of evolved red fruits, forest floor, subtle spice, and perhaps a hint of truffle. The palate should be silky and refined, with integrated tannins and a lingering finish, showcasing the finesse of a well-aged Pinot Noir.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy is a perfect match for classic French cuisine such as coq au vin, roasted duck with cherry sauce, mushroom risotto, or delicate game birds. It also pairs beautifully with mild, earthy cheeses.
🥂 An exquisite choice for a milestone anniversary, a sophisticated dinner party, or a contemplative tasting session to appreciate the nuances of aged Burgundy. This wine is likely in its prime drinking window, offering a delightful experience.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, France. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Domaine Jacques Priuer.
