🏰The 2014 Rotem & Mounir Saouma Chateauneuf-du-Pape Charbonnieres hails from a "vintner's vintage" where meticulous vineyard work was paramount, resulting in a wine of 【surprising finesse and vibrant fruit】. Despite a summer punctuated by rainfall, growers in well-drained sandy soils produced wines with forward, soft, supple, and elegant textures, showcasing good purity of fruit, sweetness, and a spicy personality. Expect a medium to full-bodied wine with concentrated red fruit flavors, notes of blackcurrant, spice, thyme, and cherries, alongside crushed violets and a discernible minerality.
🍴 This charming Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a fantastic match for roasted or grilled meats, especially lamb, beef, and game. It also complements hearty stewed dishes like daube provençale, Mediterranean cuisine, or even a Moroccan chicken tagine. For cheese lovers, mature cheeses such as Comté are an excellent choice.
🥂 Ideal for gatherings and enjoying in its youth for its vibrant fruit, this wine offers delicious drinking now. While not a long-term ager, it has an aging potential of 5-20 years. Decant for about an hour and serve cool, around 16-18°C (60-65°F).
