🏰 The 2014 Burgundy vintage, despite a relatively cool summer, yielded some pleasing reds, particularly those from the Côte de Nuits that have flourished with bottle age. These wines offer freshness, balance, excellent terroir expression, and vibrant energy, with some considering them the epitome of red Burgundy. The vintage is characterized by a beguiling freshness coupled with first-rate drinkability.
Marquis d'Angerville's Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru 2014 presents a lively, vivacious bouquet of Morello cherry, raspberry coulis, and hints of blackberry. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well-judged acidity, very focused and harmonious, with a core of minerals on a sustained finish. This classy Taillepieds is firmly structured, less youthfully austere than usual, and should offer plenty of drinking pleasure over the next 20-25 years. Producer notes describe it as a racy wine, a synthesis of elegance and uprightness, often requiring longer aging to release its bouquet.
🍴 This elegant Volnay pairs beautifully with roasted chicken with herbs, duck confit, mushroom risotto, coq au vin, or mild game birds. Its elegance and minerality also complement delicate cheeses.
🥂 Event suggestions: A sophisticated dinner party, a special family gathering, or a wine club tasting focused on Premier Cru Burgundy. 【 活力充沛,展現風土的紅布根地典範 】
BACKGROUND
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is a Burgundy producer focusing on Pinot Noir from highly regarded vineyards in the Côte du Beaune, France. The domaine gained fame in the 1920s when it began to make and bottle its own wine, at a time when the common practice was for élevage and bottling to take place in the hands of négociants. Marquis d'Angerville circumvented the négociants entirely by commercializing its own wine, becoming one of the leading producers to do so. Since the death of Jacques D’Angerville in 2003, the running of the estate is currently overseen by his son Guillaume.
