Red
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
🏰 The 2021 Lignier-Michelot Morey-Saint-Denis Les Faconnières 1er Cru is a beautifully balanced and nuanced Burgundy Pinot Noir, praised for its wonderful, complex bouquet and intellectual focus. This vintage includes 70% whole bunches, contributing to its shimmering red berry fruit, heightened minerality, and traces of Earl Grey and fresh tobacco leaf. While different from the richer 2020 vintage, the 2021 shows redder fruit tones like red berry and a hint of red cranberry, with vibrant aromatics of lighter red berry and cranberry fruit complemented by red floral tones and notes of herbal tea. The palate is medium to light in body, very fresh with high acidity, and softer tannins, making it quite drinkable already. It offers good detail and a prominent bead of minerality, adding a sense of lift to the lingering finale.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir is versatile for food pairings. Consider roasted poultry, mushroom-based dishes, or delicate game birds. Its freshness and acidity would also complement charcuterie or mild, creamy cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner, a gathering of Burgundy lovers, or a quiet evening appreciating a finely crafted Pinot Noir. Its approachable yet complex nature makes it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and short-term cellaring.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Lignier-Michelot is a wine producer based in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy, producing a range of red Pinot-based wines from the Morey appellation itself and neighboring village. The owners, the Lignier family, have been growing vines in Morey-Saint-Denis since the early 20th century, but sold the grapes each vintage to négociants until 1992, when they began bottling some of their own wine. The winery has just over eight hectares (20 acres) of vines, many of which are highly regarded Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards, such as the Grand Cru Clos de la Roche.
